In very cold weather, as extreme heat, the windows are closed to prevent heat or air conditioning from escaping. Live green when placed inside, removes carbon dioxide and absorbs a vast amount of other pollutants, replacing it with oxygen. All this is done through the natural process of photosynthesis. The most common contaminants and harmful indoor air are formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, benzene, trichlorethylene and carbon (which is exhaled). Even at low concentrations, these chemicals can cause a variety of health problems. In general, only one large plant per 100 square feet of space is enough to clean the air in an average home.
